In-reply-to > Hmm, yarnd still shows a "@xnedderdoes not follow you (they may not see your replies!)" message on profile pages for anonymous visitors. I reckon this message should only be rendered if the visitor is logged in. Also it appears that a space is missing between the user and the message.

@lyse I noticed the missing space today, so that’s a recent change. And yes, I agree, the profiles need some love.

In-reply-to > Spanish moss. Sorry for the portrait mode, only way to get them in their best “glory”.

@ullarah hahahaha! The history behind its name is interesting:

“Spanish moss was given its name by French explorers. Native Americans told them the plant was called Itla-okla, which meant “tree hair.” The French were reminded of the Spanish conquistadors’ long beards, so they called it Barbe Espagnol, or “Spanish Beard.” The Spaniards got back at them by calling the plant Cabello Francés, or “French Hair.” The French name won out, and as time went by Spanish Beard changed to Spanish moss.”

In-reply-to > Today was a clear and sunny late autumn day. The gently blowing wind made the 4°C feel even icier. My fingers nearly froze on the trigger button, but it was worth it. The red of the sunset was incredibly intense, holy crap! Even an hour before the sun went down, the red took over everything, my photos just don't do it any justice. Coming down a north west path I noticed that the ground was frozen solid. On the contrary, the terrain on the south western side uphill was quite mushy. I hear you crying: "Now shut the fuck up and show me all that red crazyness!".

@lyse certainly a sucker for Autumn leaves, and frost, and those colours… My walls collection is richer today thanks to you! 😍

In-reply-to > @ullarah I'm running PR #572 on my pod now and so far things are looking really nice, clean, consistent and quite pleasant. But I'll not merge yet until @fastidious has had a change to pull that PR down and do some testing himself 👌 He's a better tester than I, more attention to detail 🤗

From IRC:

  1. The font for the items on the hamburger menu (mobile) is too big (shows 20px on the inspector).
  2. Icons do not that what the say they do. Clicking on edit does not edits, clicking on fork does not forks, clicking on reply does not replies.
  3. Icons on twt commands (reply, delete, etc.) for mobile, and icons—and labels—for desktop are also too big.

In-reply-to > current tech level: installed ubuntu over mac os so now instead of the apple bluetooth share thing I open up a scuttlebutt client on my laptop and privmessage it to myself on my phone 😜

@will hahaha! My son has a 13” MBP 2015, still going strong, not a single issue. Gone through many macOS iterations, currently on Monterey. Simply solid machines.

@will on M1s, we got one (iMac), amazing machine. I am waiting to see if a 27” version comes out… soonish. If it doesn’t, I am going to get the 24”. Yeah, I am jelly. 🤣

“Una ciudad avanzada no es en la que los pobres pueden moverse en carro, sino una en la que incluso los ricos utilizan el transporte público.”

In English:

“An advanced city is not one where the poor can get around by car, but one where even the rich use public transportation.”

In-reply-to > @fastidious Why do you have ti be logged into an iCloud account for that to be a thing though 😅 Okay okay maybe if you were trying to copy/paste across two devices, one happens to be at your Mom's place so you'd need some kind of "Internet traversal" 😂

@prologic about:

Why do you have ti be logged into an iCloud account for that to be a thing though

Security? So it knows which device gets what? At home we have three iMacs, two MBPs, three iPads, four iPhones, and one Apple TV. Oh, and five iCloud accounts.

Forty six Holidays/Christmas cards written—depending on the religiosity, or lack there of, of the addressee. My poor left hand is fairly tired, and my brain is drained (each message unique, and custom).

Thankfully that task is now completed. Till next year, that is. 😅

@will did you know you don’t need to airdrop (assuming that is what you were using when you said “Bluetooth share thing”). Between macOS and an iOS, both logged in with the same iCloud account, you simply copy and paste bidirectionally.

Universal Clipboard for the win! 😊

In-reply-to > Chlorophilia #7 from May: On our way back from the really nice trip to see the little foxes we came across this cool looking crop field. In the background our backyard mountain Hohenstaufen is overseeing the area. It was quite windy that partially cloudy day. That probably helped us earlier not getting sniffed too early by the kit. Laying on lookout for over an hour, we were finally rewarded. You might want to check it out.

I also love 02. The posted and that one are my favourites.

@lyse I love it! What I would give to run through that field…! Oh boy. 😍

In-reply-to > “Alcohol is a drug that has its claws deep in Australian life. If you’re happy, sad, bored, have won a promotion, lost a family member, bought a house or graduated from university, these can all be seen as reasons to drink. “

@movq this is the article. It is about Australia, written by an addiction psychiatrist based in Sydney. It is an article about the issue in Australia, but it is not saying that Australia’s problem is bigger than it is anywhere else. It simply states what seems to be a fact.

It doesn’t get into politics. It is merely a superficially medical commentary.

In-reply-to > Why don’t we get away from humanised date, and simply allow the pod’s owner set their own date/time format?

@prologic I was talking about this:

  1. I might want to use “21 Nov 2021, 21:19”
  2. @lyse might want to use “2021-11-21, 21:19”
  3. You might want to use “November 21, 2021, 9:12AM”

Give us the ability to use date/time template variables to accommodate for any potential use case, just like Hugo does.

@will that applies to the life of just about any country I have been to, and those I have lived on (four in total).

Whoever wrote that for The Guardian is so lost. Or… it’s just trolling. 😂
