In-reply-to » 3 whole days in #Go I noticed my search history rolled back to: - "Convert an int to bool in Go" - "Swap two variables in Go" - "How to write a dictionary in Go"

This is easy! I know exactly what to do!

She says… 🤣

You won!

I said! 🥳

Needs more game play 🤗

@justamoment@twtxt.net Hey I just cloned and tried this little game of yours! 😅 This is amazing, really quite good and in only ~600 lines of Go 👌 Very nice! I might show this to my youngest daughter to play 😆 – Now you just need to have levels, sound, music and so on… 🤣

In-reply-to » Introduced a colleague to ed(1) today. “Ohh, that’s nice. I always wanted to have a tool like that.” 🥳 (This refers strictly to ed’s ability to edit files from a script. Like, “search for regex $foo, go down five lines, now search for $bar from here, then change $x to $y in the matching line.”)

@movq@www.uninformativ.de I like ed(1) quite a lot really, so much so I wrote my own ed – Have you seen/tried it? 🤔 I also include it as a busybox-style binary in GoNix 😅

In-reply-to » Surprise rain all day long, so the birds weren't around. Armed with rain trousers and rain jackets we went on a drizzle hike this afternoon. It was very nice. The 4°C didn't feel that cold at all. More like 10°C. The plastic layer made for a good greenhouse. I had to strip my gloves and beanie a few minutes into the walk.

@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org i’ll bet it was cold too?

In-reply-to » @eaplmx This exact thing happened to me last night. I happened to be watching some random Youtube video, then this Ad came on, normally they are short 3-5s ads and I just tolerate them (sometimes) -- But this particular ad was 20+ mins long! Somehow I kept listening to it too, despite my daughter telling me I could hit that "Skip Ad" button.

@justamoment@twtxt.net Probably – I’ll check later 👌

@xuu@txt.sour.is I actually do have uBlock Origin installed on my browser I think … I might have to check again…

In-reply-to » Do not use services that hate the internet As you look around for a new social media platform, I implore you, only use one that is a part of the World Wide Web. If posts in a social media app do not have URLs that can be linked to and viewed in an unauthenticated browser, or if there is no way to make a new post from a browser, then that program is not a part of the World Wide Web in any meaningful way. Consign that app to oblivion. Yep. ⌘ Read more

@osnews@feeds.twtxt.net Interesting point of view here, which I kinda / sorta agree with 😅

What was it you ask?! 😅 It was one of those testimonial-style, hyped up marketing videos of some product called “Gemini 2” (a currency trading app, allegedly), I kept watching all the way through, it was fantastic! 🤣

Then I went and read up on it! …

Short answer: TOTAL FUCKING SCAM 🤣

In-reply-to » Regarding "echo chambers": this is a popular, popularized term. It makes some kind of sense to a person who thinks a certain way, but introspection or intuitiveness does not a fact make.

@abucci@anthony.buc.ci This is an interesting point 👌 Yes we have a choice, we can choose to have a different mindset from the start 🤞 – The part that I personally find wrong is information systems using this against us (humans) and modifying our behaviour en-mass.

In-reply-to » I’m unfortunately well aware of that shit. And believe me don’t get your kids to use internet or social media before 18.

my children are allowed to use the Internet. Mostly, some things I do, explicitly block, but otherwise they trust us enough to ask, and we supervise and help them in their learning of online activities.

In-reply-to » @tkanos the thing that bugs me is that social media allows kids to build what might be a permanent, uneraseable image of themselves online before they're fully aware of what the lifelong consequences of that might be.

this is why I went building the software behind Yarn.social I felt that it was important that pods didn’t actually permanently leave posts around – or at least make it more difficult and an explicit action to bring up alt content

In-reply-to » @prologic I would like to agree with you but I saw well informed parents with well informed kids , and on teenagers years have been sharing nudes like all their friends.

I don’t think that’s a reason to ban social media for children under the age of 18 though because it’s nothing to do with social media

People with their own backward, erroneous, beliefs (white race is superior, jewish genocide didn't happen, and the like). Moderation (and yes, that includes banning), and what Twitter is disassembling now, is required.

Now see these are actually three different things in my view 😅 each with separate problems 😆

In-reply-to » @stigatle All good, my company is organizing a Christmas event to meet with everyone and I'll finally get to meet our newest remote coworkers which I work with since about 2 years ago but never met before.

that’s an amazingly long time to work with coworkers remotely, without ever, having physically met them! 😱

just goes to show that remote work is absolutely possible and absolutely does work 👌
