@adi Good point. Yeah, just messing around with the logic at the moment. Ideally, I think I’ll crawl the tree of etherpads regularly, and then only run this logic on any changes found.

@adi Great! Glad to hear it. Coincidentally, I’m working on expanding my use of mkws today: writing a script to export a bunch of etherpads and incorporate them in my site. Lots of fun learning about awk’s gsub to make sure all the links in the pads are internally consistent in what mkws will output; felt particularly pleased when this line worked as expected:

@prologic Basically, it’s another way of connecting to the Tor network; bridges, generally, are non-advertised means of doing so, such that infrastructure operators’ blocking of public Tor nodes doesn’t prevent their customers from connecting to said network, should they choose to. The added benefit of an obfs4 bridge is that the Tor traffic over it looks random: https://support.torproject.org/glossary/obfs4/

I’ve (sadly, I know) been pulled back to Reddit by a neat app, and, well, I had no idea just how much effort folks are now going to to stage stuff for views; really a step-change (at least!) from when I was last exposed to public videos regularly.

@fastidious Ha, no, I’ve got Wireguard, vaultwarden and yarn.social running on the 3A+, with just an SD card. I have Pleroma running on my 3B+, with a 1 TB external HDD. I run PostgreSQL there, and, now, all my databases have been migrated there (incl., for example, the one Etherpad is using), save for Matrix: my Synapse server and PostgreSQL running alongside each other on that Asus 1000HE (2008). All my other servers are in Docker containers now, on my mother-in-law’s old desktop: a 2005 Dell; the HDD failed on it last year, when I went down for a good week and a half, but other than replacing that, it’s still doin’ its thing. And now everything is backed up to my new Synology DS220+, with personal media further backed up to Backblaze.

Calibre server is now up and running for my new book club. :-) The custom Docker image has already been downloaded 31 times! Need to update the repo I forked off at some point, I guess, if folks are actually using of my work.

It’s my understanding that this is the best of limited options when it comes to hosting ebooks for others; any counterarguments would be most welcome! :-)

@prologic One thing that really bothered me was the opaque nature of the process. “It’s not going to happy,” was the extent of the view they shared on their reasoning.

@eaplmx Maybe eventually. They’ve made impressive inroads in the German public sector, for example. But both Discord and Slack are still slicker imo. Enabling experimental features in the flagship client brings it a lot closer already, though!

Then a third party raised the idea independently in a chat later, and I replied with enthusiasm, but also repeating what the admin had told me. At which point the admin jumped in the chat to slap me. 😅

Oh, wow; in-line is not a good look for that. A chance to try the other display formats, clearly! ^x^

@fastidious Yeah, I didn’t do my own build (for now); that’s the latest Docker image. I think those themes are available with a skins environment variable, possibly; I’ve set loads, but not that one in particular.

@movq I didn’t actually think that was a driver behind either (no pun intended). I like both projects for their locked down deployments, by default. When they’re done well, the docs even suggest post-install connections that you might want to use and why. Mobile has been successful with that sort of model for some time, and I’m quite happy to have a bit of bloat to get it with my desktop. (Read something recently about the duplication Flatpak introduces.) Storage is cheap!
